User guide

Collo helps you keep track of a door-to-door collection on your phone: where you rang, who donated and how much was raised. Each collection has its own streets, and you can walk them again every year.

1. Getting started: account and home screen

  1. Open Collo and tap Register.
  2. Enter your email address and a password of at least 8 characters, then tap Create account.
  3. You will receive an email with a confirmation link. Your account only works after you click it. Nothing arrived? Check your spam folder, or have the email sent again.

Forgot your password? Tap Forgot your password? on the login screen and you will get a reset link by email.

Add it to your home screen

Collo runs in the browser, but it is handier as an app on your home screen:

Collo needs an internet connection: everything is saved on the server straight away, so nothing gets lost and others see it too.

2. Creating a collection

Under New collection, type the name of the charity, for example Red Cross, and tap Create. The current year is added automatically.

A collection has streets (they stay the same every year) and years (progress and money raised per year). Next year, tap + Add year and walk the same streets again with a clean slate.

Whoever created the collection can rename it or delete it at the bottom of the page.

3. Adding streets

On the collection page, tap + Add street. You do not need to type house numbers:

In the Netherlands, Collo fetches every address from the BAG (the official Dutch address register). In other countries the street comes from OpenStreetMap and you enter the house numbers yourself as ranges, for example odd 1 to 39 and even 2 to 40. Leave a side empty if you do not walk it.

The order of the streets is your walking route; move them with ↑ and ↓. With ✎ you can rename a street, Fetch again its addresses, or delete it.

4. Walking and ringing

On the collection page, tap a year to start walking. At the top you choose the street (the list is alphabetical) and filter on All, Odd, Even or To do. Collo remembers where you were.

The bell button

  1. Tap 🔔 ring next to an address. This counts one ring and immediately opens the choices.
  2. Choose No answer, Donates or No donation.
  3. With Donates, choose QR code or Cash. An amount is optional: type it, or tap a quick amount (€2, 5, 10 or 20).
  4. With No answer you can tick ✉ Card through the door. Collo remembers your last choice.
  5. Tap Done.

Tap the address itself (not the bell) to change something without ringing again. Use − and + to correct the number of rings; Clear empties the address. Missing an address, such as 12a? Use + Add address at the bottom.

What the colours mean

An address is finished once it has an outcome. For “no answer”, only when a card went through the door; otherwise it stays under To do so you can come back later.

5. Collecting together

Walking with others? Under Collect together, enter the email address of someone with a Collo account and tap Invite. They get an email and see the invitation at the top under Invitations, with Accept or Decline.

Once accepted, you all see and fill in the same streets and addresses. What someone else enters appears on your screen within half a minute, so you never ring twice.

The owner can remove someone with ✕ (or withdraw an invitation). A participant can Stop taking part themselves. Whatever was entered stays.

6. Overview and results

While walking, tap Overview and results. You will see:

At the bottom of the overview you can delete a year with all its results.

7. Account, language and privacy

Tap ☰ at the top right for your account. There you choose the language (Dutch, English, French, German or Spanish), log out or delete your account. Deleting removes all your collections, streets and results and cannot be undone.

Collo first picks the language from your phone. A choice made with the flags is remembered, and emails are sent in your language.

Your data is stored only on Collo’s server and used only to make the app work: no ads, no tracking. Streets and addresses are looked up at PDOK (BAG) and, outside the Netherlands, at Photon (OpenStreetMap).
